EYE EXAMINATION

Among our five sense organs, our eyes are the ones that show us the world’s beauties, connect us to life, give us 85% of our learning and perception capabilities and are the most complicated and important organs after the brain. From birth till death, there are many diseases which can threaten our eyes because of aging, genetics, systemic diseases and external factors. It is essential for a healthy and happy life to have regular, comprehensive eye examinations. Early diagnosis is a prerequisite for successful treatment in all eye diseases.

A comprehensive eye examination can help to diagnose many life-threatening diseases such as diabetes, brain tumors and AIDS in addition to eye diseases at an early stage. Such disorders can be treated before they lead to serious problems;

  • Diabetes
  • Brain tumors
  • AIDS
  • MS
  • Parkinson's disease
  • Heart diseases
  • Blood diseases
  • Alzheimer's disease
  • Metabolic disorders

Just 30 minutes

A comprehensive eye examination is at least 30 minutes. When the drip is ready for examination, you can look at the eye. There are 7 stages of eye examination;

  • 1- Visual Acuity Test Our goal of seeing the thin button is measured by tests of minimized numbers.
  • 3- Examination of the eyelids It investigates the condition of the eyelids, tear glands, tear discharge system and areas around the eye.
  • 5- Eye Pressure Measurement Detects intraocular pressure with an automatic or manual imaging device. These measurements are of great importance for the early diagnosis of glaucoma.
  • 7- Eye Drop Examination Drip Drip This procedure can be used to detect retinal detachment, glaucoma, hypertension, brain tumor and various diseases in the body.
  • 2- Glasses Inspection The refractive error caused by the eyes, the inability to see the net creates the need for glasses.
  • 4- Examination of eye muscles The inner muscles of the eye control the movement of the pupil. The outer muscles of the eye also allow the eyes to remain parallel. The state of the eye muscles is determined in strabismus and double vision examinations.
  • 6- Biomicroscopic Inspection Using special tools to analyze cornea, iris, lens and retina layer.

Result:

Normal results from an eye exam include: various diseases in the body.

  • 20/20 vision
  • Good peripheral vision
  • Ability to distinguish various colors
  • Normal-appearing structures of the external eye
  • Absence of cataract, glaucoma or retinal disorders, such as macular degeneration

Your doctor may give you a prescription for corrective lenses. If your eye exam yields other anormal results, your doctor will discuss with you next steps for further testing or for treating an underlying condition.

CORNEA TRANSPLANT

A cornea transplant is our best performed examination. A cornea transplant (keratoplasty) is a surgical procedure to replace part of your cornea with corneal tissue from a donor. Your cornea is the transparent, dome-shaped surface of your eye that accounts for a large part of your eye’s focusing power. Most cornea transplant procedures are successful. But cornea transplant carries a small risk of complications, such as rejection of the donor cornea. Cornea transplants are performed using donor corneas attained from Eye Banks. Glaucoma (eye tension), cross-eye vision and retina decollement surgeries are carried out using the most appropriate methods. Excimer Laser applications performed for correction of myopic, astigmatic and hypermetropic vision are being carried out using LASIK method and drop anesthesia.

8 conditions can be treated with a cornea transplant;

  • A cornea that bulges outward (keratoconus)
  • Fuchs' dystrophy
  • Thinning of the cornea
  • Cornea scarring, caused by infection or injury
  • Clouding of the cornea
  • Swelling of the cornea
  • Corneal ulcers, including those caused by infection
  • Complications caused by previous eye surgery

Cornea transplant is a relatively safe procedure. Still, it does carry a small risk of serious complications, such as:

  • Eye infection
  • Increased risk of clouding of the eye's lens (cataract)
  • Pressure increase within the eyeball (glaucoma)
  • Problems with the stitches used to secure the donor cornea
  • Rejection of the donor cornea
  • Swelling of the cornea
  • Signs and symptoms of cornea rejection

In some cases, your body’s immune system may mistakenly attack the donor cornea. This is called rejection, and it may require medical treatment or another cornea transplant.

Make an appointment with Luna Health Turkey if you notice any signs and symptoms of rejection, such as:

  • Loss of vision
  • Pain
  • Redness
  • Sensitivity to light
  • Rejection occurs in about 10 percent of cornea transplants.

How much does Eye Treatment cost?

Eye Treatments tends to be pretty expensive. A few states have laws that say health insurance companies must cover some or all of the costs of infertility treatment if you meet certain requirements. But many insurance plans don’t offer any fertility treatment coverage at all.
